Our Mission for Sustainable Fashion

Our Mission for Sustainable Fashion

According to the British Fashion Council’s White Paper (2019) which highlighted the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry, there are a number of action points that can be taken by those in the industry to help reduce the impact fashion has on the environment. From their research the current statistics are worrying:

At Isabel Manns it’s our mission to bring sustainable fashion to everyone. Yes, there’s challenges we know we’ll face but I’m truly focussed on thinking innovatively and creatively to find solutions to the barriers.

This sometimes means taking a different approach to the problem. Like my collection of Reversible clothing. This really came about whilst I was studying at Parson’s in New York, I wanted to put sustainability at the core and challenge fast, throw away fashion.

My favourite reversible pieces are the Fern Silk Palazzo Pants with the matching Kelly top, The Sophie Silk Top in Scarlett Pebbles/Cobalt and the Cecilia Skirt in Sunset Meadow/Fuchsia. They’re a perfect way of having two outfits in one, so helping to reduce the amount of clothes you buy, reduce landfill and minimise waste.

Since then I’ve also through about additional ways I can minimise our impact.

Zero Waste

I’ve got a great relationship with a sustainably conscious seamstresses in London who ensure our fabric is cut economically to minimise waste.

I’ve also focussed on creating the prints and pattern pieces in such a way that the fabric waste is kept to a minimum. Also, any fabric that is left over is used to make our scarfs, pocket scarfs, masks and headbands.

Made in England

We like to support local industries and production in England, and we've built up strong, personal relationships who contribute to the quality delivery of our collections.

It’s also really important to us to be ethically conscious in every step of the process. By basing our entire supply chain in the U.K means we’re able to monitor working conditions and reduce our carbon footprint.

 Sustainable Materials

We're constantly searching for fabrics that are derived from eco-friendly sources to help minimise our impact on the environment. Whilst this brings challenges on costs and production, we're committed to finding the right solution.

Our packaging is biodegradable plastic and recycled paper. We also commit to using 100% recyclable packaging and have a zero-plastic policy unless it is biodegradable.

 Season-Less Collections

We create high quality, timeless designs that work from season to season. Each collection builds complimentary pieces from previous collections. We're creating continuous fashion, not fast fashion styles.

These pledges and processes are ongoing and we’re in this for the long game. We want to make a difference, be part of the solution, not the problem.

Thanks so much for joining us on our journey.
